1. Introduction

Welcome to La Ruche Inc. (“La Ruche”, “we”), a web studio based in Montreal, Quebec. Protecting your personal information matters to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, retain, and protect personal data, including under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as modernized by Law 25.

2. Information we collect

When you use our site or services, we may collect:

  • Information you provide directly — for example through the quote form (first name, last name, email, phone, company name, website URL, estimated budget, and project details).
  • Information collected automatically (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages viewed) when technical or analytics tools are active.
  • Information via cookies and similar technologies (see section 3).

3. Cookies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, improve the experience, measure audience, and, where applicable, support marketing. Depending on the tools active on the site, the following categories may apply:

  • Essential cookies — required for basic security and site operation (session, navigation stability).
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how the site is used (pages visited, device, browser, traffic trends) so we can improve it. Tools such as Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics may be used when configured.
  • Marketing cookies — may be used to show or measure more relevant ads, limit how often ads appear, and evaluate campaign performance, when enabled.
  • Personalization cookies — remember certain choices (e.g. language preference) for a more tailored experience.

You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may limit certain features.

4. Purposes and form processing

We use personal information mainly to:

  • Respond to quote requests and communicate with you.
  • Provide and improve our services (design, development, marketing).
  • Keep the site secure, operational, and improving.
  • Meet our legal obligations.

Quote form submissions are handled by our /api/quote endpoint. Email notifications may be sent through a transactional email provider (e.g. Resend). We do not sell your data.

5. Service providers and hosting

Technical providers may process data solely to operate the site and our communications, for example:

  • Site hosting and infrastructure (e.g. Vercel).
  • Transactional email related to forms (e.g. Resend).
  • Analytics or tagging tools (e.g. Google Tag Manager), when active.

These providers act under their own policies and only as needed for the purposes above.

6. Privacy officer

We have designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information at La Ruche. That person oversees compliance with this policy and applicable law.

7. Confidentiality incidents

If a confidentiality incident involving personal information occurs, we:

  • Take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of harm and prevent similar incidents.
  • Notify Quebec’s Commission d'accès à l'information (CAI) and the affected person when the incident presents a risk of serious injury, as required by law.
  • Keep a register of incidents, a copy of which may be requested by the CAI.

8. Disclosure of personal information

Where the law allows, certain information may be disclosed without consent (for example for study, research, statistics, or in connection with a commercial transaction), subject to applicable conditions. Before such a disclosure, we conduct a privacy impact assessment (PIA / ÉFVP) when required.

9. Biometric measures

We do not currently use biometric characteristics or measures to verify or confirm identity. If that changed, any such use would be disclosed in advance to the CAI, as required by law.

10. Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

11. Your rights

Under applicable law (including Law 25 in Quebec), you may in particular request:

  • Access to your personal information.
  • Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdrawal of consent, where applicable.
  • Information about the categories of persons who have access to your information within the organization.
